QUEEN ELIZABETH II, PRINCESS DIANA, QUEEN MOTHER AND SARAH ARMSTRONG JONES
QUEEN MOTHER’S 88TH BIRTHDAY, CLARENCE HOUSE, LONDON, 🇬🇧  in 1988

A Catherine Walker pale-pink linen ensemble, Spring-Summer 1988, labelled, identical to the one worn by Princess Diana. comprising: mid-length fluted skirt, matching jacket with concealed button fastenings and shoulder pads, waist 74cm, 29in, bust 92cm, 36in (2) Princess Diana was photographed wearing an identical ensemble to attend the Queen Mother’s birthday celebrations at Clarence House, London, in August 1988.

It must have been a favourite outfit because she also wore it on two further occasions – on a State visit to Abu Dhabi, 15 March 1989, where she watched a camel race in the desert at Al Ain and to Wembley Stadium, May 14, 1988, to watch the FA Cup final (Liverpool v Wimbledon).

Although identical, this is categorically not the ensemble worn by the Princess.
