A rare trio of books once owned by Princess Diana & her siblings is up for auction March 5!

A Rare signed book above, which is an 8vo hardback edition of Noddy and the Bumpy Dog by Enid Blyton, published by Sampson Low, Marston & Co. Ltd. and Dennis Dobson, Ltd., London, First Edition, 1957.

The book, with colour illustrations by Beek, is Noddy Book 14 and bears the ownership signature (’Diana’) of the young Diana in bold red ink to the front endpaper bearing a colour printed design and the words “This book belongs to….”

Together with similar hardback editions of Noddy and His Car (Noddy Book 3) bearing the ownership signature of Charles Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer (1964- , Brother of Princess Diana) and Noddy and Tessie Bear (Noddy Book 12) bearing the ownership signature of Jane Fellowes, Baroness Fellowes (1957- , Elder Sister of Princess Diana).

The three books were evidently shared between Princess Diana and her siblings; the feint pencil signature of Lady Sarah McCorquodale (1955- , Elder Sister of Princess Diana) can be seen beneath Diana’’s own signature and a second signature of Baroness Fellowes can be seen beneath Earl Spencer’’s. Some overall age wear.

This is an extremely rare trio of books bearing an exceptionally early example of Princess Diana’’s signature. Contained in an attractive display box.

The auction starts on 5 March 2016 and is being held by International Autograph Auctions in Nottingham, England.
