30 MAY 1993: LIVERPOOL, UNITED KINGDOM – Prince Charles and Princess Diana of Wales attend a commemoration service that marked the 50th anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic. The couple traveled from the royal yacht Britannia, moored at Liverpool’s Pier Head, to the world’s largest Anglican Cathedral for the ceremony honoring those who fought in the World War II maritime battle from 1939 to 1945.
Sadly, it also marked their first and last official appearance together since agreeing to separate on December 9, 1992.
Diana was resplendent in a nautical navy blue and white Catherine Walker suit which was constantly whipped by the wind as she held on to her matching hat and skirt! She wore coordinating navy hosiery and shoes and despite the pending divorce, appeared cheerful while she happily engaged with the crowds waiting to meet them.
