Thursday, March 15, 1984: Prince Charles and Princess Diana visit Sheffield and tour the Westall Richardson Cutlery Factory.  They later visited with crowds on the street and attended a reception at the town hall.  Their last stop was a visit to St. Luke’s Hospice.  Diana is wearing a blue wool Bellville Sassoon suit with inverted pleat sleeves along with her trademark John Boyd hat with netting frilled at the back.

Freda Dunk, a volunteer at St Luke’s Hospice, remembers the Royal Couple’s visit well; “The Prince and Princess of Wales visited in 1984, and Diana was pregnant with Prince Harry,” Freda recalls.

“The people of Sheffield lined the route to the hospice – and the building was especially clean and shiny that day!”
