Princess Diana was resplendent in a fuchsia and violet silk chiffon sari by Catherine Walker as she and Prince Charles dined with the King of Thailand on the evening of February 4, 1988.  Diana had to bow to the diminutive King when she met him earlier in the day for no one is allowed to be taller than King Bhumibol who is treated as a living god by his subjects.

Diana, at 5ft. 10.5 in. made the King gape in admiration.  It was reported that he was a great fan of hers and read many magazines that reported her activities.  As a tribute to her hosts, she had done her homework, and wore lotus blossoms in her hair. The silk sari was a cool choice as the temperatures that day soared to 92F.
